Long story short: this is itself quadruple as much as average income.

According to statistics average monthly income per capita - yes, we're used with calculating per month but not per hour, reached UAH20'964 or approx $499 in second quarter 2024. Roughly $6000 per year. Obvious shortage of job seekers due mobilization itself, due huge number of escapees, and huge amount of those to hide from being force mobilized pushes wages enormously, so that given figure is pretty much optimistic and would likely decrease after the war.

In addition, the program includes a number of social benefits:

Compensation for housing rent during service;
The opportunity to obtain a mortgage at 0% after completing the contract within the framework of a special program;
Free education at higher education institutions at state expense after completing service;
Free medical care, including dental services and dentures;
The right to travel abroad after completing contract service;
Exemption from mobilization for 12 months after completing the contract.

Huge benefits that many times multiply the $24'000.

IMO the offer appears definitely generous for a young man with good health but with no ability to engage cronyism or corruption levers to build one's career.

Many Ukrainians are used to think only Democrats are going to help us while Republicans would likely not. Especially Trump, according to his pretty unclear and somewhat disputable statements about Ukraine, appears unfriendly. So, Ukraine in fact supports Democrats with likely no clear understanding why we should to. Same time I believe Republicans did more for the democracy in the US and all around the world than Democrats. I'm not a politic expert and never pretended. I can only judge on anti-weapon hysteria that is widely supported by Democrats but opposed by Republicans, so I'd chose Republicans just to preserve the right of people to keep and bear arms. Ukrainian officials should make friends among both parties, Democrats and Republicans. For us it should not matter who will win.

The ability of our power engineers to restore objects destroyed by the russians causes surprise and admiration.

This amazes me even more since I'm somewhat familiar with power grid, what are they made of, and how they work. The problem is that any given part of the grid is unique custom made. Even in good times one should first design a thing that would fit its place - say a transformer, then place an order to make it, and wait for delivery and installation for months.

What's up everyone?

Once I heard a 'net' somewhere on DMR i.e. rather on the internet than on the air. People mostly responded with their callsign and, can't recall exactly, with some short word or abbreviation of 'well, I'm really glad to participate but I really have nothing new since last net, so I'm standing by and listening to other stations'. Not exactly still good approach to what I'd wish to say. To be honest, I'd like to make bigger accent on 'thank y'all' part of the message however it's already pretty much OK as is.
